PIRATES "Where The Community Meets The Media"


As a PIRATES member you will be entitled to: A listing in the PIRATES directory, which is distributed annually to media public service directors throughout the Los Angeles area; Invitations to all PIRATES programs, workshops and special events; Opportunities to announce your organization's special events; Reduced fees for participation in co-sponsored opportunities such as Santa Monica City TV's Non-Profit Profiles or PSA Workshops; PIRATES' monthly newsletter, The ePLANK, which carries program information, networking and job opportunities and other material helpful to those in the public service field. The fiscal year runs from July I through June 30. 

First Time Membership?

You MUST fill out New Member Application and pay online or mail in application and check. You will be notified if you have been approved by the board.

Who is Eligible For Membership?

Membership in PIRATES is open to public service and public affairs professionals from the media, non-profit organizations, government agencies, corporations and public relations firms representing non-profit organizations.

Types of Memberships

Three categories of membership are open to new members: 

Active: Persons currently employed in the public service field. Initial dues of $65 cover initiation fee ($15) and first year's membership. Renewals are $50 annually.

Associate: Volunteers in the public service field. Initial dues of $60 cover initiation fee and first year's membership. Renewals are $50 annually. 

Sustaining: Persons not eligible for Active or Associate membership. This category includes individuals or representatives of corporations who wish to recognize the goals of PIRATES. Annual dues $100. 

Honorary or Life Members: are appointed at the discretion of the Board of Directors
